Ringing a bell has two effects. The first is the natural sound it makes. Bells can be seen hanging in every temple according to Hinduism.

Before worshipping God, it is traditional to ring the temple bell to enter. Different-sized temple bells hang from the temple roof, and the loud sound they make is said to be lucky.

Most people hold the opinion that the echoes created by temple bells drive out all evil spirits from the mind. Therefore, the person rings the bell before starting the Puja or entering the temple in order to keep their thoughts solely on pleasing God.
