Perhaps the most complex and difficult instrument in human beings is the apparatus that produces speech. The entire apparatus must be used for the formation of sound and letters. This includes the abdomen, chest, larynx, mouth, nose, diaphragm, various muscles, tongues, palate, lips and teeth. Of these, the muscles of the mouth, the palate, lips and tongue are the important ones in making spoken sounds. If this vocal apparatus does not work with perfect coordination, then something happens to our speech’s, we stammer. To be more precise, stammering or stuttering occurs when there is a spasm in one or more of the organs. Our delivery of words is suddenly checked, there is a pause which is often followed by are petition in quick succession of the sound at which we stopped originally.
