Alligator and Crocodile:

Alligators have broad U-shaped snouts, but crocodiles have more pointed V-shaped snouts. This is another difference between the two species. When alligators close their lips, the upper jaw teeth are visible but the lower jaw teeth are not because the upper jaws of alligators are wider than the lower jaws. When a crocodile’s mouth is closed, several lower teeth are visible due to the almost equal width of the upper and lower jaws.

There are only two species of alligators:

The Yangtze River is the only place where the endangered Chinese alligator, a native of the southeastern United States, may be found. In tropical waterways, crocodiles can be found in Australia, Africa, Asia, the Americas, and the Caribbean.
